Disc Dog by Day, Artist by Night...

Yesterday morning Millie and I did a lot more disc work. Millie was fantastic and caught the disc nearly every time, despite my awful throwing and the wind!

We also worked on a few tricks involving the disc. Millie's got a lot better at them too!

Here's a video I put together of our training session yesterday:

In the evening, Millie did two more drawings. She's getting much better!

Posing with her beautiful artwork!!!

Our New Hyperflite Disc

For Christmas, Millie and I got a Hyperflite disc, for disc dogging! We had a go with it today, it's amazing!

We started off with normal throws, it went a long way and Millie managed to catch it nearly every time! Once I threw it so hard it nearly went over the neighbours fence! Fortunately it hit the house and bounced off it, Millie still caught it!

After that we did some tricks with it. Millie managed to jump over my leg and catch the disc whilst she and the disc with both in the air! Her flippy thing is also getting better! I got a jump out and she was going over the jump and then catching the disc.

Here is a little video. She was much better the times I didn't film it because I couldn't really film ad through the disc at the same time!

Then I put the disc away and got some more jumps out. Millie loved that as much as ever!

A Millie Update!

Sorry for lack of posts recently - just I've been very busy and haven't had time to post!

Earlier in the month Millie came on her first car ride with me! She loved sticking her head out the window barking! When we got there she came in the front and then pushed me out of my seat!

Millie had a good Christmas! She had lots of presents which she loved unwrapping!

I got some dog DVDs for Christmas and last night we watched one! It had Jumpy as the main character and Millie loved it!

After that Millie did some more drawing! She hasn't done any for a while but this is what she produced yesterday.

This morning she enjoyed another of her Christmas presents - a buffalo ear!

On the barrel for the cameras!!

Yesterday I did some training with Millie on the barrel, she hasn't done it for a long time, but was as good as ever!

Today we had some people from ITV come to film Millie for a TV programme! Millie was amazing! She was filmed doing all sorts of tricks, including her skateboard, scooter, Frisbee and handstand up the wall. She was also filmed doing other tings such as pulling on a rope toy and running up the steps. She also had to do a bit on the barrel where she had to knock down life-sized cardboard cut outs!

She was my little star as always!

Although Millie did go to jail the other day...

She was released from jail only to do this yesterday...

She'll have to go back again now!

Dog Training

We went dog training last night! We had to do the gate exercise which we haven't done in ages but Millie hasn't forgotten! We had to do the mats too. Everyone laughed at Millie for having such a small mark but she did it! We did sit and down stays too and of course Millie was perfect! Good girl Moo!

Scared of the Dark

Poor Millie is scared if the dark. She hates fireworks and yesterday when we were on our walk some went off. She really panicked and I carried her home. This meant that today when it came to going out when it was dark, even though there were no fireworks, Millie was terrified. She kept shaking and panting so I got her home quickly and snuggled her up on a bed upstairs.

We had dog training this evening and I decided to take her to see if it distracted her. It was actually very good for her. It was full up inside the hall so we, and some of the young dogs waited outside. In the dark. However, Millie was distracted by the other dogs so wasn't scared of the dark. There was a young Rottie there which she was scared of, but inside we sat next to him and Millie accepted his presence! We did socialisation with the dogs and Millie happily sniffed nose-to-nose with a lovely Setter. She did all the exercises well and as we went out she willingly socialised with a little terrier. Outside in the car park she sniffed nose-to-nose with a gorgeous but boisterous red Labrador. That was really good!

It worked and took Millie's mind off of being scared of the dark and helped with her socialisation and becoming less scared of other dogs. Well done Millie!

Rock Star Puppy!!!

Millie decided she wanted to be a rock star!

It's the first time she's held an object like that without me supporting the top, so she did very well!

She's not bad at playing guitar either...

Dog Training

We went dog training yesterday evening. There aren't many people in our class or the class before so the classes joined.
We did recalls in pairs to start with. We were with a young Labrador from the class below. Millie was good though and came to me despite him running next to her!
Then we did the exercise where we through treats and the dogs have to run through the handlers legs. Millie did a faultless demonstration of the exercise!
Then we did a bit of agility. Over a jump and through the tunnel. Again, Millie was the one to demonstrate it. She was so keen and so good and fast! On the way back, she jumped as soon as she came out the tunnel. She made a massive leap, got over the jump and then skidded along the floor! Another person with a young Lab in the class below said "oh great, I've got to follow that!"
We then did sit and down stays, which Millie was very good at!
She still wasn't tired when we got home though!

Millie's Latest Trick!

Millie learnt to beg! It's another trick I didn't think she'd get, but once again she did! It just clicked!

So cute!

Food Theif!

Yesterday I heard Millie making a noise in the kitchen, it sounded very suspicious so I ran in there to see what she was doing. She was stealing a cake!!I quickly got her away and disposed of the evidence!

This evening she licked some quiche that was on the worktop! Because it had been licked, it went to go in the bin. We were about to go for a walk and Millie picked up Joe's blanket. To get it off of her, I showed her an empty tin. It worked, Millie gave the blanket. I put the tin back and knocked the quiche on the floor! Millie and Joe couldn't believe their luck! Fortunately I got most of it, they just cleared up the mess that was there afterwards!

Frizgility, Agility and a Long High Jump!

Millie and I have been doing some training in the garden this morning.

To start with, we did some frizgility. Millie had a great time doing it! She loves it!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4bJscmb5p8

After that, I set up an agility course for her. She was good, but not as quick as she could have been! I think it was because there was less space to I made the jumps lower. She was protesting as she wanted higher jumps!

So, I made her one really big jump! She flew over it, and really enjoyed it!

Join Us!!! - Sepia Saturday

Just found out Millie won another prize in an online dog show! Clever girl!

Millie's just finished eating some cardboard and is now lying on the sofa! She was a very good girl at dog training on Monday. She was very sweet when I sent her to her mark, she laid on it like she was meant to, then I asked her to bring it to me.. She carried it across the hall, put it down at the other end of the hall and then went to it from the opposite direction!

Millie having a lazy Saturday!

Millie and I have a Facebook page. If you want to see more of Millie's antics, it would be brilliant if you could like it! Here is the link!

Talent Show Winner!!!

Today we went to Suffolk for the finals of the talent show! This is the one where we won the heat last month.

We had a practise this morning, Millie was very good. After a nice walk, she had a rest and was ready to perform tonight.

She was fantastic! I will upload a video soon. Everyone really liked her and she got lots of applause! All the contestants were called on the stage at the end and we got a medal an certificate!

We then had a wait for the results. The judges were all singing/acting people so I want expecting anything. 2nd place was announced and it wasn't us so I thought that was it. Then people started shouting that they wanted the dog to win! Then it was announced, we came 1st!!

We went on the stage to collect a trophy and a £150 cheque!

Millie's so clever, she beat all those other people and won some lovely prizes! Good girl!

Paws in the Park!

We went to Paws in the Park today!

First we auditioned for My Dog's Got Talent. Millie did well with all her tricks, including the scooter and skateboard, which got a lot of attention!

We then did the Heelwork to Music with Richard Curtis. I went in the ring with Millie where she was brilliant and wasn't at all put off by the other dogs in the ring.

In the afternoon, I went to look at the board for My Dog's Got Talent and we were only in the reserve spot. I thought I'd practise the scooter and skateboard anyway for the Best Trick. A man came and said how "awesome" Millie was, especially the scooter!

We went in the ring for Best Trick. As we were waiting for the class to start, the lady from My Dog's Got Talent said two people hadn't turned up so there was a space for us! I told her we'd be there as soon as this class had finished! We only had 30 second in the Best Trick, so Millie just rode her scooter and skateboard. A man came to us then and said how brilliant Millie was and that he thought we should come 1st! We actually got 2nd, which wasn't bad!

After that, we went straight to the My Dog's Got Talent ring. We virtually went straight in and did lots of Millie's tricks! We did have a bit of an incident with her jumping over my back, she jumped too wide and crashed straight into me! We both ended up in a heap on the floor!!! We did that one again and she did an extra big jump and was perfect! She was so energetic and focused the whole time. When we came out of the ring, a lady stopped and told us we were her winners! She said she thought we did the most, best tricks! The results were announced and we came 3rd. Again, not bad!

As we came out the ring, we saw the lady who runs Superdogs, who asked us if we wanted to audition again! We were also then stopped by another man who said he and his family thought we should have come 1st!

Even though we didn't come 1st, 2nd and 3rd is still good and Millie was excellent!

Winnings!

A Little Update!

On Monday we went dog training for the first time since before the summer. Millie was a very good girl, despite not having gone for a while!

Yesterday she was going hyper with her space lobber toy. All in a second, she'd thrown the toy, jumped onto the coffee table and caught the toy and then she was flying through the sitting room with it to land on the sofa!

Saturday 12 September 2015

Our Nice Walk!

This afternoon we went for a walk down the railway line with Millie's (now!) friend Lucky!

It was a long walk and Millie really enjoyed all the different things to sniff! She's so good with Lucky now, it doesn't bother her if he barks, or even runs into her!

You'd think after such a long walk she's be tired, but not Millie! Shortly after coming home, I had to stop her from eating a wooden spoon!

Tuesday 8 September 2015

Lots of Training!

Millie and I have done loads of training today!

I started to teach Millie the rebound! This morning she wouldn't even jump on me while I was sitting down. This is what she can do now! Its not finished yet but I'm really pleased with her!

https://youtu.be/LyEoLPuPFIQ

We've also done some more with the Frisbee! She's also doing fantastically with that!

Sunday 6 September 2015

Frizgility!

Today Millie and I had a go at a new sport - frizgility!

The dog gets points for going over the obstacles and for catching the Frisbee. It looked like fun and Millie loves agility and is getting very good with a Frisbee!

I set up the jumps and a tunnel, got the Frisbee and had a go! Millie was fantastic and loved it!

Here's a short video, Millie was quite tired at this point after doing it on and off all day but she's still good! https://youtu.be/X2B6D2r85Oo

After that, I set up a big makeshift jump for her, which she flew over!

On Saturday Millie got a prize in the post from another online dog show! She came 10th in Best Trick and 5th in Biggest Achievement!

Well done Millie!

Naughty Millie!!!

This morning we went on a nice walk down the Worth Way. Millie stopped and did a poo, I bent down to pick it up, and she kicked a load of soil and dirt in my face!

When I'd got it off of me, we carried on. I looked at Millie and she had sticky green things all over her! It looked horrible so I pulled them off there and then! She carried on running and sniffing around and got grass seeds in the long fur on her ears! I pulled them out and the rest of the walk was uneventful!

This evening, Millie stole a slice of pizza, out a box on the table!

Disc Dog and Lovely Walk!

Today Millie and I have been practising disc dog some more! She's doing well!

This evening we went to Lingfield. We had a lovely walk, around some of the other fields as well as the main one. It was a really nice walk and Millie had a lovely run off the lead. We took her frisbee and although she only caught it a couple of times she had a brilliant time chasing it!

We stopped in the pub for a drink afterwards!
